sprite sheet so far

the tables have turned!

i've completed the task of making frames of the character's other side, and also i have rearranged the sprite sheet so that the character facing right frames are above the identicle frames for facing left!

all of the basic animations are now done:
idle
jump
fall
crouch
stand up
slash attack
shoot
walk

its time to have some fun and make a custom special move for her!
at the moment i think the special move will be the ability to summon a big forcefield shield from her robotic arm, but this is a task for another day!

Turn around bright eyes!

a large task has presented its self!
i have just been made aware that when Wip turns around, her arms seem to magically switch sides!
to fix this i now must create all the frames again from the other side of the character.

to accomplish this i can switch the arm layers this will make the robo arm move to the back, and the arm with the handgun will move to the front.

Wip's Sprite Sheet so far

ITS ALIVE!

the first of the character sprite sheets is nearly done! i've used this sprite sheet to place the character into a (very basic) game engine.

this sheet shows:

Idle

Walk

Jump

Fall

Shoot

Hit

Master of the puppets!

this is just a quick post to give an example of the movement freedom of using puppets, note that the back can bend too, neck and head can move, and limbs can be moved as usual!

yes, it is a strange pose!

Wip's Puppet finished

i have now finished the puppet for the character Wip!

all of her limbs are on seperate layers allowing me to move her around in order to create a sprite sheet more efficiently than frame by frame re-drawn animation!

nearly done the base

i'm almost done with the base parts for Wip, its just her cyber arm to go
then i will move on to the next step, adding detail and shading!
on a side note i am also working on the animatic for project to help visualise the storyboard, however this is taking a back seat at the moment so i can finish off my sprite animation.

Layout for my puppet

i've made the base for my Wip sprite puppet

now its time to begin adding the parts on seperate layers

2D spritesheets!

its time for me to work on 2D spritesheets!

i've descided to take a different approach to creating these sprite sheets,

rather than redrawing the character for each frame in a sprite sheet i have descided to

create a movable puppet in photoshop of the characters i shall be animating

i have my character concept done, Wip the alien technician, now i need to "puppetize" her!

our idea

our group is currently working on our own characters for a character select screen, we think this will look cool as we all have individual drawing styles, our characters will be selectable playable characters, and when clicked will play a short animation and then go still such as in tekken.

Greetings earthlings!

Game On
week 1!
this week the team worked on making character concept art, our base theme was steampunk pirates.

i think it went rather well and was good fun!
